Frequently asked questions
AI for VET Educators is a national professional learning program designed to help vocational (VET) educators understand artificial intelligence and use it confidently and effectively in their work. The training is delivered by Akkodis with the support of the Digital, AI and Technology Centre of Excellence and Microsoft, with a practical focus on Microsoft Copilot.
The program is designed around two learning streams: Copilot in Practice and Copilot in Action. These streams allow you to choose the learning path that best matches your current level of Copilot knowledge.Copilot in Practice is best suited to those who are new to Copilot or require foundational knowledge. Copilot in Action is designed for those who already have a working understanding of Copilot and have previously completed Copilot training.
Copilot in Practice is a 60-minute interactive online workshop focused on practical AI for teaching, learning and assessment. It explores using Microsoft Copilot Chat to create resources, support teaching and assessment, communicate with learners and save time. You will learn how to use Microsoft Copilot Chat safely and effectively, generate lesson plans and resources, draft learner communications and feedback, adapt content, create reusable prompts and apply AI responsibly.
Copilot in Action offers four interactive 90-minute online sessions that help educators build on existing Copilot knowledge and apply AI across teaching, learning, assessment and course development. The four topics to choose from in the Copilot in Action series: Get Better Results from Microsoft Copilot Save Time with Reusable Workflows and AI Agents Create Quality Learning Resources in Less Time; and Help Learners Use AI Responsibly.
Educators have the flexibility to choose whatever topics are most aligned with their own learning. You can choose to attend one, or several sessions. The topics have separate registration options, allowing you to select the sessions most relevant to you.
The sessions are delivered online through Microsoft Teams.
There is no limit on the number of participants for Copilot in Practice. However, Copilot in Action sessions are limited to 50 participants per session. We have intentionally kept session sizes small to ensure VET educators get the most out of the session and can ask questions to the trainer directly within their session group.
Additional registrations will be placed on a waitlist once the session reaches capacity.
You do not need a Microsoft 365 Copilot premium licence to attend. The training focuses on Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Chat, and access to Copilot will help you follow demonstrations and practical activities. Where possible, use the Microsoft account you normally use for Copilot.
There is no mandatory pre-work for Copilot in Practice. Copilot in Action participants should already have foundational Copilot knowledge. Sessions are practical and interactive, with demonstrations and education-focused scenarios.
Participants who attend will receive a certificate of attendance, along with information about available learning resources and any digital recognition. Live attendance is recommended, as recording availability may vary.
You can continue your learning through Microsoft Elevate for Educators. VET and TAFE professionals can also express interest in the Community of Practice. For programme enquiries, contact Akkodis Academy at TechAcademyAU@akkodisgroup.com.
